We visited Almuñécar for the first time one summer a few years ago. We had just left our house and moved into our new apartment in Lund, Sweden. After the move we were in great need of rest and retreat. When we arrived in Almuñécar we were immediately delighted. We were struck by the calm, genuine and welcoming atmosphere, the friendly locals, the fantastic food, the cozy old town with many restaurants, bodegas, cafes, squares, parks and of course lovely beaches. Everything within easy reach. After a few days all our stress had disappeared and we felt that we would want to come back here for many years to come.
Said and done, after a few months we had bought our first house “San Miguel” and the renovation could begin. A few years later we bought the second house “Angustias Moderna”, also in great need of renovation. Today we are the proud owners of both of these houses in the old genuine part of Almuñécar with historical remains.
We hope that you, just as much as we do, will enjoy your stay here in our house and in Almuñécar.
A warm welcome!
Susanne & Björn
P.S Curious about our renovation of the houses? Feel free to look in the photo book “A dream comes true” which is located in both houses.
Your house is located on a hill near the San Miguel Castle, among picturesque narrow streets and alleys. The old castle of San Miguel was built by the Moors. They chose the location because here was the best view to quickly spot enemies from the sea and the mountains. For the same reason – “the best view” – we chose our house up here at San Miguel to give a magical view from the terraces over the sea, mountains, the castle and the town.
Like in many other old towns with narrow roads, it is difficult to get here by car. We are therefore happy that both of our houses can be reached by car.
Up here your neighbors are mainly Spaniards, whom we appreciate very much and up here we have our “own” little grocery store around the corner, a new small playground and our “own” bodega La Corala with flamenco dancing. Of course also the beautiful castle of San Miguel, which is open to visitors.
